When in Highland Beach, do as the locals do: go play golf with your neighbors!
Golf is extremely popular among Highland Beach residents since there are so many public and private golf courses around the Boca Raton and Delray Beach area. The weather in Florida is also perfect for golf players that want to play all year long. There are so many things that Highland Beach residents can do around the area and golf is certainly one of the favorite hobbies for Highland Beach residents.
There are 34 golf courses in Boca Raton, Florida and 8 are municipal courses. There are also another 66 golf courses within 20 miles of Boca Raton, including 20 public, 9 municipal and 37 private courses.
Many of our neighbors in Highland Beach are members of private clubs such as The Boca Raton or the Seagate Club. Both very nice choices! However, for Highland Beach residents that don’t want to join a club and pay a membership (since many of our residents are not permanent Florida residents), a public or semi-private golf course is a very versatile option. We have many beautiful and well kept public golf courses close by.
When I was gathering information for this article, I asked a Toscana resident what local golf courses he recommends. This is what the answer was: “We love the county courses of palm beach county. They are in great shape for public courses. There are many public courses within a 20 min drive. The closest is Delray and that course is supposed to undergo a $20m renovation soon. The Red Reef right down the street is a great venue to practice your short game while enjoying beautiful views. Some holes are oceanfront. I love the wildlife you get to see while golfing in this area – especially the bird life. Ospreys, eagles, egrets, herons, hawks, – even an occasional flamingo! We’ve seen alligators and fox.”
We mention a few of the most popular golf courses amongst Highland Beach residents below.
